This multi-site café concept was developed to create a distinctive and recognisable hospitality identity that could be adapted to a range of existing town-centre buildings.
The brief focused on creating a flexible hospitality environment that could operate as a café by day and bistro by night, allowing the space to respond to different customer needs and maximise its use throughout the day.
The design was developed to achieve a high-quality café and bistro interior with minimal intervention to the existing building fabric wherever possible. This approach allows the character and history of each individual building to remain visible, while introducing a consistent design language across different sites.
The interior concept uses a restrained palette of natural and neutral materials, complemented by carefully placed colour and feature elements to bring warmth and identity to darker areas of the spaces.
Timber, brick, solid-surface worktops and considered lighting combine to create a contemporary yet approachable environment suited to coffee, casual dining and evening hospitality.
The flexible layout and interior design allow the atmosphere and function of the space to evolve throughout the day. During daylight hours, the environment provides a relaxed setting for coffee, breakfast and informal meetings, while in the evening it transitions into a more intimate bistro environment for dining and socialising.
The result is a flexible café and bistro concept that can be applied across multiple locations while allowing each venue to retain its own character. Rather than creating identical interiors, the design responds to the existing architecture of each building, creating individual spaces within a coherent overall brand.
The project demonstrates Funlab's approach to hospitality and commercial interior design, combining brand identity, space planning, flexibility and practical fit-out considerations to create distinctive environments that work throughout the day and into the evening.
