Cadet Mews - Contemporary Urban Infill Housing
Project: New Build Residential | Brownfield Development | Urban Infill
Location: Hackbridge, Sutton
Client: Ikon Eco Homes
Cadet Mews is a brownfield urban infill development of three contemporary townhouses, designed by Funlab in partnership with Ikon Eco Homes.
The scheme makes efficient use of a previously developed urban site, creating three new homes within an established residential setting. The design responds to the constraints and opportunities of the site while providing contemporary, comfortable homes designed around modern family life.
Modern Methods of Construction
A key aspect of the development is the use of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). The homes are constructed using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) supplied by Kingspan, providing a highly efficient construction system with strong thermal performance and a high degree of precision in the fabrication and assembly of the building envelope.
The use of SIPs also supports a more streamlined construction process, allowing the homes to be delivered efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on energy performance and build quality.
Contemporary Homes Designed for Modern Living
Each of the three townhouses has been designed to maximise the available space and provide a strong connection between the internal living areas and private external spaces.
Open-plan living forms the heart of each home, creating flexible spaces for cooking, dining and relaxing. The houses also benefit from private gardens, dedicated garden studios and roof terraces, providing additional outdoor and working spaces within a relatively compact urban development.
Cadet Mews demonstrates how brownfield sites can be transformed into high-quality contemporary housing, combining efficient land use with modern construction techniques and well-considered private amenity.
The result is a compact development of three individual homes that brings together urban infill housing, Modern Methods of Construction and contemporary residential design, creating sustainable and adaptable homes for modern living.
